Integrated approach intralogistics
DLL’s strength is providing flexible, turnkey financial solutions for complex projects, outside the realm of traditional banking. It offers the ‘whole package’, and this integrated approach differentiates DLL from other leasing companies.
Olivier comments: “DLL really understands the complexity of intralogistics and automation projects. Our finance solutions are not simply designed for asset acquisition but integrate all costs, such as installation and engineering costs, software, transport, training, as well as pre-financing.”
This integrated approach is advantageous for businesses of all sizes as it ensures there is no initial outlay for customers in the early days of a project which, given the long lead times for equipment, removes the financial pressure. DLL also offers flexibility with longer-term contracts or even Operating Lease solutions than are standard in the industry. “Intralogistics is a relatively new market for the asset finance industry, with a lack of data on long-term returns on equipment. So, this flexibility is unusual and is really appreciated – even by big companies,” says Olivier.
Industry-wide solutions
“Businesses need to automate to maintain their supply chain and remain cost-effective – not to mention the challenges with labour shortages, increased labour costs, and huge cost of land. These are all driving investment in automation,” says Marco Wagner, DLL’s Global Head of Intralogistics.
DLL can facilitate the transition to automation with tailored finance solutions at local and international level – whether for medium-sized businesses wanting the ‘whole package’ or multinational corporations with more complex demands. Marco explains: “Smaller businesses are looking for ownership-driven structures, and corresponding financial products, whereas multinationals are looking more for usage-based products, with the potential for exchange, or update technology more frequently compared to small to medium-sized businesses.”
Within Southern Europe, France, in particular, is a major intralogistics hub and presents a huge potential market for DLL, including with existing customers and end-users in the food & beverage, and automotive industries. “The food and beverage industry is strong in the South region,” Marco explains, “while the automotive industry is particularly strong in France. There are also many big 3PL and cold storage companies in the region, and it is a major hub for the pharmaceuticals industry.”
