Organizations were judged on the strength of their wellness programs in six key categories: Culture & Leadership Commitment, Foundational Components, Strategic Planning, Marketing & Communications, Programming & Interventions, and Reporting & Analysis. The Healthiest Employer Assessment is comprised of 65 scored questions that total 600 available points. Upon completion of the Assessment, responses are graded on a Rubric style 0-100 scale to determine the company’s Healthiest Employer Index (HEI). The HEI is used to determine the rankings.
DLL launched its Wellness Program in 2013 and continues to implement new initiatives every year. The "Wellness Rewards" program offers employees a medical premium differential of $500 annually for completing four requirements: biometric screening, annual physical exam, preventative exam and health risk assessment. Based on the results of these items, employees are targeted through online programs and health coaching models to address areas of concern.
"I am extremely proud of the wellness team, our wellness ambassadors and our members," states Sean McManus, VP of Human Resources. "Our Wellness program is one of the many reasons DLL remains an employer of choice, and it’s gratifying to be recognized for our continued efforts."
DLL employees also have access to an onsite fitness center that hosts sporting tournaments, a "Walking Wednesday" group, onsite fitness classes, personal training, health analyses, an annual wellness "Fit Fair" and more. Locker rooms and showers were installed to make exercising before and after work more convenient.
The onsite Café is also integrated into DLL’s Wellness Program and provides easily accessible, affordable, healthy food options. The "Eat Well" program labels the healthy food options in the Café and subsidizes the cost of the healthy food options by offering a 25% discount, making them more affordable than the unhealthy options. The Café also hosts onsite healthy cooking demonstrations on a variety of topics.
