Tom van Zalen was appointed Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and member of the Executive Board of DLL in January 2026. In this capacity, he is responsible for the company's risk and compliance organization.

Van Zalen is a seasoned and change oriented risk leader, with a successful career in the financial services industry spanning both financial and non-financial risk functions. He is known for his strategic mindset and his ability to convert strategy into execution. Prior to joining DLL, Van Zalen was CRO and member of the executive board of Knab N.V., a Dutch online bank (subsidiary of BAWAG Group, Austria). In this capacity, he led the Risk & Compliance function of the bank. Before joining Knab in 2023, he worked for ING Bank in the Netherlands, where he respectively held roles as Tribe Lead Credit Risk Management, Head of Capital Planning, and Senior Risk Manager. Van Zalen’s career started as a consultant for Zanders Treasury and Finance where he focused on financial risk management, economic capital and value-based management.

Van Zalen holds a Master's degree in Financial Econometrics from the University of Amsterdam and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute).
