DLL & ConnectBike: Biking our way towards a better world

|Aug 1, 2022

We climb on the bike with ConnectBike. On the way towards a world where sustainable mobility is the standard. ConnectBike is an Amsterdam-based company specialized in mobility concepts. Five years ago, founders Kenneth Erselina and Anton Mollerus concluded that the mobility plans of Dutch cities needed an upgrade. Polluting then, like today, was condemned. We need to do better; we need to move away from cars that cause congestion and pollution. But what form of mobility can take its place?

Just walk, use public transport or cycle. It was in cycling that Kenneth and Anton saw potential, so in 2017 they founded E-bike2work. In the first year, E-bike2work mainly focused on making commuter transport more sustainable. A year later, when bike manufacturer Giant came to look at their plans, ConnectBike was born.

What does ConnectBike do?

ConnectBike develops e-bikes for different market segments, focusing on 'last mile delivery,' which is the last part of the delivery process before an order is delivered to the customer. The ConnectBike concept therefore ensures that your pizza arrives hot and that the person delivering it produces minimum CO2. In recent years, ConnectBike has embarked on collaborations with small partners for meal deliveries. Now, however, delivery companies for the big players in the industry are also using the ConnectBike concept.

ConnectBike guarantees full service. ConnectBike customers pay a fixed sum for this every month. Want to find out more? Visit the website of ConnectBike.

ConnectBike X DLL

As DLL, we are delighted to announce that we are working with ConnectBike. Last month, we visited their office in Amsterdam for the kick-off of our partnership. Jeroen van Douveren, CEO of ConnectBike, welcomed our DLL E-mobility team with open arms and was happy to tell us about ConnectBike as a company.

“Besides being a commercial organization, it's also important to us that we do something good for the environment. We are currently analyzing all our processes and making them more sustainable. We try to communicate our vision of cycling so that companies choose bikes rather than scooters or cars for their deliveries. Our service buses also use green gas, and we analyze the production and parts of our bike together with Giant to explore how we can improve things for our world in those aspects too,” Jeroen explained.

Besides the bike and the service, the lease aspect of ConnectBike is an important part of their business model. “As a company, we are still relatively small, but we have international growth ambitions. We want to work with a lease company which can follow us in that. Jochem Schellekens, Country Manager Construction, Transportation & Industrial at DLL, totally understands this, which is a great starting point for us,” added Jeroen. “The partnership with DLL feels good, DLL understands us, and everyone involved at DLL takes the trouble to get to know our company. We've only just begun, but the initial signs are very positive.”

When we ask Jeroen what he expects us to have achieved together in 2023, he noted: “Lots of cycling together! Also internationally. I'm already noticing how well we get on together. With DLL, I feel we both have an interest in making this a success, and we do it together,” Jeroen said.

We look forward to a green-colored future with ConnectBike. We look forward to helping them fulfil their ambitions. On the way, we learn from each other, and together we will embrace a future that contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable world.
