When we say Partnering for a Better World, we truly mean it. Our values transcend a ‘mere business’ approach, embracing a mindset focused on making a real impact. We have numerous partnership stories that highlight this commitment. This story, centered on driving the electrification of transportation, is yet another milestone in our journey of customer success and dedication to creating meaningful change.

Kempower’s Vision and Innovative Approach

Founded in 2017, Kempower swiftly emerged as a global leader in EV charging. By 2019, they launched their own product range, and by 2024, they were recognized as one of Europe’s fastest-growing companies. Kempower’s mission has always been to provide sought-after charging solutions worldwide, driving the electrification of transportation.

Their vision extends beyond individual vehicles to electrifying entire fleets, transforming transportation globally. Former CEO Tomi Ristimäki emphasized, “We are enabling the change in electric transportation, decarbonizing the world, and lowering traffic emissions.”

As the number of electric vehicles and charging hubs grew, Kempower focused on designing scalable solutions to accommodate large systems and increased power capacity. The entry of truck fleets into the EV space marked a significant shift, requiring more powerful charging hubs.

To meet this growing demand, Kempower introduced megawatt (MW) charging solutions last year (2024), capable of charging trucks with over a megawatt of power, addressing the growing needs of the commercial vehicle sector.

Challenges and Solutions

Kempower faced a significant challenge: the rising costs of commercial vehicles and charging infrastructure were hindering their expansion in the commercial vehicle sector. Their customer base comprised public charging operators and fleet operators including trucks, buses, harbor machinery, and mining equipment. The company’s main aim was to provide both groups of customers with flexible, future-proof solutions that could boost the overall goal of electrification of transportation.

In 2024, DLL’s Global Head of Business Development Energy Transition, Hiten Sonpal, met with Kempower to discuss their business strategy, key sectors, and customer needs. “After taking all of that into account, one of the things that was evident from day one was that financing could be a key enabler for Kempower to grow and help them be the leading provider in EV charging,” said Sonpal.

For DLL, the partnership with Kempower represented an exciting opportunity to help drive the transition to electric transportation globally. This collaboration not only supported Kempower’s business growth but also empowered their customers to secure financing and install charging infrastructure, paving the way for a more electrified future.
